Brainspotting
Brainspotting with Practical Change
You may have a clear sense that your performance or ‘form’ is off. There may be many factors contributing to the current slump in creativity, poor athletic performance or drop in sales figures. You may find yourself ruminating on a recent or past failure, perhaps there’s been some public humiliations that you’ve had to endure and you can’t seem to shake off the memories and that preoccupation that returns as you anticipate needing to perform again.
What previously felt easy and natural, suddenly feels forced, the ‘flow’ is off and you suddenly feel unskilled.
Brainspotting allows you to go beyond the rational / logical part of the brain and to turn past traumas into memories, rather than re-experienced events. As a performance tool, it has been successfully used by professional and amateur athletes, musicians and business people to overcome barriers and anxieties.
As a more relational and attuned cousin of EMDR, Brainspotting has also been deployed in treating PTSD and complex traumas. Brainspotting can safely and effectively diminish negative states associated with trauma and by using its resourcing model, can be highly successful in enhancing wellbeing and improving focus.
